booklish booklist #3
It was just a matter of time before fellow bloggy bookaholic Keris (at last, a photo!-->) shared her list- and here it is! Thanks Keris...The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay
The story of a white boy growing up in South Africa in the 1940s, I fell completely in love with Peekay, the main character, and dreamt about him after finishing the book.
Asta's Book by Barbara Vine
A genuinely unputdownable book. Everyone I've recommended it to has been annoyed with me cos they can't get anything done until they finish it!
Tales of the City by Armistead Maupin
Everyone should read this series of novels set in 1970s San Francisco. Hilarious, exciting, moving, intriguing and you'll feel like the characters are your friends.
Malory Towers by Enid Blyton
The first books to really get me excited about reading. [Me too! good old Enid]. Great fun, even if they are completely un-PC.
Notes from a Small Island by Bill Bryson
I don't think I've ever read anything that made me laugh out loud as much as Bryson's ill-advised foray into a Glasgow pub.
One for My Baby by Tony Parsons
I really don't like any of his other books, but I thought this one was beautiful. The first chapter is perfect.
I've read the last three but not the first three- I'm sure that will be remedied before too long! How about you, dear readers?
I seriously need more, more, more lists... (tell your friends! and SEND 'EM IN!)
I loved the Tales of the City too. Bill Bryson is just too funny he was on my list too!
Great minds and all that!
